We just recently got to stay at the new Hard Rock Los Cabos. The first day of our trip, we visited the new Rock spa and Posh Salon. We wanted to get in the relaxed vacation vibe. The Rock spa certainly delivered! Here’s everything we loved and our top tips for visiting.
Things We Loved About Rock Spa at Hard Rock Los Cabos:
Pool side service
The pool service really sets Hard Rock Los Cabos apart. There are a wide variety of pools (adult-only, quiet, and active). Our kids lived at the active pool and the service was amazing. One morning, we had a waiter walk us to some chairs and help with the many towels we needed to get set up with our larger group. One waiter came around with chilled cucumbers for our eyes. The drink staff was quick to keep great beverages coming. We found that the swim up bar had the best drinks, especially if you wanted to specify how something was made. They serve a variety of lunch foods at the pool. We never left for lunch because it was so easy to feed everyone. We highly recommend the grilled meats, ceviche, and guacamole served pool-side! We rented a pool cabana for several days and cannot say enough about how great that was with kids. The pools also looks toward the ocean, so you don’t have to choose between the pool and oceanviews.
À La Carte Restaurants
Hard Rock Los Cabos has some great a la carte restaurants for dinner. We loved the Italian restaurant Ciao. It had the best steak we had all week. Our kids were a bit hesitant about the menu, but all found something they loved. Our other favorite was the Asian place Zen. Whether you did teppanyaki or the regular menu, the food was fantastic. Our kids loved the teppanyaki so much we did it twice. Zen also had one of the best bars on property. Zen also has a lot of teppanyaki tables compared to some other all-inclusives so you could actually get a reservation. We also found that all the restaurants were more than happy to provide kid-friendly staples so that the parents could have great food while the kids ordered chicken nuggets or macaroni and cheese. Again.
Kids Programming
The resort offers a supervised kid club for ages 4+. Younger children can participate if they are accompanied by an adult. The kid’s club is not huge, but is very friendly and offers lots of activities even outside. It’s also right near the main buffet and Steakhouse restaurants if the adults are trying to have a quiet dinner without kiddos. There is a supervised arcade and teen club as well. Our tweens loved hanging out at the arcade while the adults got a drink and listened to some live music one night. It was a really nice option to give them some down time away from the little kids. Our kids also spent some time here one afternoon when they wanted a break from the pool. It’s close by the pool which meant we didn’t have to go far which was really nice.
Plenty of Pools
Hard Rock Los Cabos has lots of pool space. The activity pool in the center of the resort was where we hung out most of the time. The music was great, the foam party was a blast, and the service was fantastic. We did see the quieter pools elsewhere with beautiful sunken platforms in the water that would have been great options if we hadn’t been traveling with kids. The infinity-edges on the pool were really nice and made it feel like the pools feel like the melted into the ocean. It was also easy to watch the kids in the lowest level pool, which is right next to where the water slide lets out and the swim up bar. It was a great combination for parents!
Spa
We loved our time at the Spa. It’s a large facility with lots of availability. It’s part of their resort credit program which made it fun to get to go relax there. It was a great part of our stay and we highly recommend a visit. They even have kid salon services which are very fun.
Sunny Sunny
Los Cabos is known for its sunshine. It’s rare the weather is foul and even then it’s usually over quickly. Being on a desert, there is little rainfall and lots of sun. The views are gorgeous and the sunsets from this Western location were amazing. We recommend watching the sunset from the main lobby terrace or the terrace at Los Gallos Mexican restaurant. Gorgeous!
All Inclusive Credit
The resort often runs a resort credit program where you pay 25% of the full cost for many tours and services. This made it really fun to try new things, especially as a group. Whether you want to sail to the famous rock arch, go on a submarine to see sealife, get a massage, or just want to rent a pool cabana…the resort credit made it easy to do more on vacation and keep everyone busy and happy.
Good Energy
Hard Rock Los Cabos has a great energy. The music that plays, the energy of the staff…it has a fun but sophisticated vibe. We loved that this energy made kids and tween feel at home without being over-the-top and a wear out. If you want total quiet zen, this is probably not the resort for you. But if you like sophisticated, classy fun, this is the perfect resort. We find this energy to be great for big families traveling together who don’t want bored or uncomfortable teens and twenty-somethings.
Family Rooms
The resort has a room category with connecting rooms called family rooms. With 2 queens in one room, 1 kind in another, and two bathrooms, this room is a dream for those traveling with more than 4 people. More space meant everyone was happier and Mom and Dad had some privacy. The kids would often wake up early with the time change and watch cartoons until it was time for breakfast without waking us up. Everyone wins!
Quiet Oceanside
The resort is located in a quiet golf community. You really had the feel of having the whole beach to yourself. While there aren’t beach chairs or beach service, it is a beautiful view. The ocean is not swimmable here, but you can walk along, build sand castles, or just enjoy the huge beach area. There is a lifeguard on duty to make sure no one is swimming. It makes for great family or wedding pictures! The resort does set up volleyball or other games on the beach. We loved that the resort wasn’t in the middle of the city with all the city noise. It was a beautiful and quiet location with a lot of fun at the resort.
Floating Bar Menu
The swim up bar at the pool gets the word out by putting its bar menu on pool floats that make their way around the infinity beachside pool. It was so fun!
See the Cruise Ships
Being on the Pacific West Coast, big cruise ships often sail by on their way to dock in the Cabo marina. It’s lots of fun to watch them sail past and you get an idea for just how big those ships really are!
Kicking Lobby Bar
The lobby bar has a very impressive cocktail menu with really cool back stories. There is a full picture guide to the mixologist-created drink menu with unique and cool descriptions of why each drink was chosen. It’s a fun place any time of day, but we think it’s best at night when you can take your drink out onto the terrace or catch a favorite sports game on one of the screens.
Sushi
Zen had fantastic sushi. You can sit at the sushi bar (first come, first serve) or order it from the regular tables. We loved it so much we came back a second night. It’s some of the best sushi we’d have at an all-inclusive. The kids got in the action too and found some new favorites. We love all-inclusives for helping kids try new things.
Things to Know -
The Vibe
Hard Rock all-inclusive resorts are a family-friendly option for vacation. While there were families there and great options for kids, it was very much an adult resort with lots of couples. It did not feel like you were tripping over kids left and right. If you want a resort that is only about the kids, this is probably not it. If you want a resort that is only for adults, this is also probably not you. While there are adult-only areas and pools, most areas allow kids including all the restaurants and the swim up bar at the pool. If you want a great resort for all ages that offers a really high quality experience without feeling like you are living at Chuck E Cheese, this is definitely it. We also loved that there were things for tweens and teens to do, which can be very hard to find at some all-inclusive resorts.
Nightlife
The resort does have nighttime entertainment and bars. We loved the nightlife from a family perspective. However, younger singles or couples who want a true nightclub scene should probably head into town, which is 20-30 minutes by car.
Location
The hotel is in a new location inside an exclusive golf community. That great part of this is that it is very safe and has additional security and screening for all traffic in and out of the area. This means a couple of things: you cannot just Uber to the hotel. You need to have a transfer with a regular tour company or taxi which are often more expensive than Ubers. While some may criticize this, this is also how they help keep the area secure. It is not “in town”. This is not a resort to stay if you want to wander down the beach to a local restaurant or walk to a local shop. We loved the location because it was quiet and remote and we didn’t want to feel like we were in a big city while on vacation. Most excursions are about a 20 minute drive to town.
Restaurants Need Reservations
A la carte restaurants require reservations. We were able to make our reservations ahead of time via the vacation planners concierge desk. However, most people make them onsite or via their butler. You’ll want to get those reservations made right away for your stay.
Bring a Stroller
If you are coming with littles, pack a stroller. While walking around the resort is pleasant and easy with kids, it was way easier with a stroller for tired little legs.
White Party
They do a white party on Thursday night but it is totally optional. The rest of the rest is not dressed in white except those attending the party.
