What does it take to plan your luxury Thailand honeymoon or dream romantic vacation? If you aren’t familiar with Asia at all, it can be a little overwhelming to get started. Below are the basics you’ll need to have to start planning your Thailand dream trip.
Thailand is affected by different monsoon seasons. Different regions of the country are hit at different times of the year. In general, the best season for vacations on the Western Coast is Nov-April. The best season for vacations on the Eastern Coast is Jan-May. Summer temperatures can be stifling, so plan accordingly.
Thailand is a gateway to Asia. From the US, you’ll have a layover in another destination to catch a flight to Bangkok. Many people use this time to add a day or two in a second place of interest. Our favorite? Hong Kong!
Thailand is also several destinations in one. Everyone starts with a night in Bangkok. This city is packed full of rooftop views, street food, nightlife, ancient temples, world-class shopping, floating markets, river boats, and the best hotel names worldwide.
After Bangkok comes the hard choices. You can head North to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai for jungles, tented glamping amongst elephant sanctuaries, zip lining, art, and beautiful temples.
Or, you can head South to the limestone cliffs and beaches that made Thailand famous. You can party in Patong, climb cliffs in Krabi, explore sea caves via kayak, jet boat through a bay, island hop for the best beaches or curl up next to your private villa pool before getting a famous Thai massage.
Better yet, you can go both North and South to get a total taste of Thailand. What’s on your list?
We recommend you start with at least 8 days in Thailand. As you add additional dates and destinations, you may wish to extend your stay. Based on your must-do list, decide how many days your trip will be.
How do you want to feel on this trip? Do you want to explore new things and do something you’ve never done before? Do you want to relax and forget the Western fast-paced world? Are you looking for a quiet beach or a party? Do you love to eat new foods or do you want familiarity? Do you love hunting for that perfect souvenir or watching history come alive at ancient sites? What do you want to do together?
Thailand requires a passport valid for 6 months beyond your trip. Several vaccines are recommended for Asia. Check with the CDC or your doctor as to what is recommended for your trip and destinations.
After you have your favorite ideas, work with a travel designer to make your dream trip come true. They’ll handle logistics and prep you for cultural immersion while making sure you have luxury built into every step of your journey. They can suggest innovative experiences based on your interests to custom craft your trip to you.
