We just recently got to stay at the new Hard Rock Los Cabos. The first day of our trip, we visited the new Rock spa and Posh Salon. We wanted to get in the relaxed vacation vibe. The Rock spa certainly delivered! Here’s everything we loved and our top tips for visiting.
Things We Loved About Rock Spa at Hard Rock Los Cabos:
1. The Contemporary Look and Zen Ambiance
The resort opened in May of 2020. We got to visit in October…so everything was still very new. The décor is very zen with beautiful ocean colors. Even though the spa is on a lower level, the use of a full wall of windows brings a lot of light into the waiting area. There is a quiet garden outside of the spa lobby which can be used by anyone. If you wanted to get in a little sunshine or be outside while waiting for your appointment, it is a quiet place to relax and unwind. The natural tones were also very representative of Cabo and felt very natural to environment around the area. We liked that it kept a sense of place. The spa is for ages 18+ while the salon, which shares a common lobby, provides services to kids and adults. We liked the adult-only vibe of the spa but also enjoyed that were was something for the kids too.
2. Relaxation Beforehand
While you are waiting for any appointment (spa or salon), the attendants are quick to bring you a glass of tea or infused water and a warm neck pillow. The warm pillow were our favorite and were really lovely. After changing for our appointment, we took our pillows with us to the warm tile beds in the wet areas pre-treatment. It was a wonderful way to relax before a massage! If you aren’t wanting to use the wet areas, the warm tile beds come highly recommended!
3. Great Wet Area Options
After you change into a super comfy terry-cloth lined robe, you are escorted to the wet areas. There are tons of options if you want to use this area before or after your treatment. Each wet area is gender-specific. There are several creative shower types including a 360 surround. There is also a cold plunge and warm plunge pool. The warm plunge has some very vigorous jets that can be a little loud if you are lying on the warm tile loungers, just FYI. The wet area showers are fairly open to the pools. There isn’t a lot of privacy. So, you will want a bathing suit if you plan on using these areas.
4. So Much Room
The spa has 36 rooms, which is great for groups or families together. Beyond the wet areas is a large sitting areas shared by both men and women. It was full of comfortable couches and chairs for those awaiting treatment. The space would make it very easily for a couple or group of friends or family to sit together if you wanted to share the experience. We also liked that there was enough room to spread out so you didn’t have to sit too close to strangers while waiting. The salon was also quite large and could handle larger groups if you had family pictures or a wedding group that needed to all look great!
5. Kid-Friendly Salon Services
We got mani-pedis for the whole family! The kid rock star package is very fun for kiddos who want to get to experience a little pampering too. Our girls fully enjoyed having their hair and nails done! The salon staff was great with kids. The also offer haircuts which we found to be really well done.
6. Quality of the Treatment
We had a massage done and were very impressed. It was a great and relaxing massage with a knowledgeable masseuse. The spa can arrange your preference of male or female masseuse. We loved the products they used and felt the service was very high quality. They have some unique treatments with chocolate, coffee, and sound. They also have some more involved rituals and several steps wrap treatments. There are plenty of services for couples too. We didn’t go quite that exotic on the treatment, but there really is something for everyone if you want to try something different.
Things to Know Before You Go -
Resort Credit:
As part our stay, we had the limitless resort credit. This is a great program that Hard Rock offers where you can experience many extra services or activities for 25% of the normal full value price. When we visited, all the spa services are part of the resort credit program. The posh elemental services at the Salon are included. The signature salon services are not. They have two separate lists for which are included and excluded. We chose from the included section. The staff was great about letting us know beforehand what was part of that. The lists are always being updated, so make sure you check for your stay.
Setting Things Up:
We set up our spa appointments through the reservations concierge (often called Vacation Planners at Hard Rock Los Cabos) ahead of time via email. We know other people who set their appointments up via their butler, if their room had one, or in person themselves at the spa desk once they arrived. The spa is good sized and we did not have availability issues for setting appointments up for services we booked upon arrival.
Gratuities:
Gratuities are expected but not mandatory. While we were there, you were given an envelope in which to place cash if you wanted to tip. They did not have an option to charge to the room a gratuity. You could come back later with the tip or you can bring cash with you. They write the name of your spa or salon person on the envelope.
Bring your suit:
As we mentioned, the wet areas and showers are very open. There wasn’t a great way to shower privately after a treatment unless you had your swim suit. If you are planning on rinsing off after treatment or using the wet areas, make sure you bring your suit.
Plan to stay after treatment:
The wet areas were really lovely as was the zen garden outside the spa lobby. If you want a quiet afternoon, you could hang out and enjoy the area.
Bathrooms vs. Changing Room:
The changing area to get into your terry-cloth lined robe was a small locker area with an open closet-type location for changing. There wasn’t a door. If you are uncomfortable with that level of privacy, there are bathrooms down the hall that can be used that have more privacy.
We recommend -
The Mani Pedi
The mani pedi at the spa was really nice. We are always so rushed getting out the door for vacation that we often don’t have time to get the vacation mani pedi done before we hit the beach. It was great to be able to have this done on vacation, get a little pampering, and have our toes flip flop and pool ready.
The Massage
We recommend scheduling a massage early in the trip to get rid of those muscle aches from the airplane. It’s such a great way to start vacation and get relaxed. It’s also a super fun couples thing if you are on a special trip with your sweetie.
