We just recently got to stay at the new Hard Rock Los Cabos. The first day of our trip, we visited the Posh Salon with our preschooler and elementary-aged kids to give them the full rock star experience. We loved that Hard Rock Los Cabos had something the salon that our kids could experience. It was the first time our girls got to have their nails done professionally and a fun vacation memory they won’t soon forget. The Posh Salon was great with the kids. Here’s everything we loved and our top tips for visiting.
Spoiled Rotten
The salon made sure that the kiddos had a great start. They had warm neck pillows brought out for all the kids (and the grown ups). The kids LOVED them and it also helped put them at ease right away.
Kid Friendly Choices
The rock star package includes both hair and nails. For the nails, there are a variety of Opi nail polish choices from which to choose. Our girls both found fun colors they loved. The salon chairs with foot soak and massage were a fun new experience for our elementary aged daughter. Our littlest did not like the noise of the chair so she got her nails done on Mama’s lap. They have the soaking chairs in a back room as well as a seated nail station in the salon/hair section. The salon area is very open with lots of seating if several family members are present. There can be other guests in the same space, so we were sure to tell our girls that this was a quiet area to be respectful of others trying to relax. This would be very fun for any flower girls involved in a bigger wedding party.
Hair-Raising Fun
As part of the package, kids can have their hair braided or blown out. We chose the blow out. This would be such a fun option before having family photos done. Our daughter’s hair looked great when done and the kind worker raved about the beautiful color of her golden hair. This would also be a great option for any children involved in a bridal party. We had friends who did the braiding option and it was super cute (and clean). If your littles want braided hair, this is a great way to have it done.
Boys Too
Our son opted for a haircut (which was badly needed). We were very impressed with the quality of cut. The barber took the time to cut his hair in a cool and fun way and style it so he looked very smart. It was great for the rest of our vacation pictures and one less thing we had to get done before vacation.
Things to Know Before You Go
Resort Credit
As part our stay, we had the limitless resort credit. This is a great program that Hard Rock offers where you can experience many extra services or activities for 25% of the normal full value price. When we visited, all the spa services are part of the resort credit program. The posh elemental services at the Salon are included which included the kid rock star package. The signature salon services are not. They have two separate lists for which are included and excluded. We chose from the included section. The staff was great about letting us know beforehand what was part of that. The lists are always being updated, so make sure you check for your stay. When we were there, the lists were prominently displayed on the desk.
Setting Things Up
We set up our spa appointments through the reservations concierge (often called Vacation Planners at Hard Rock Los Cabos) ahead of time via email. We know other people who set their appointments up via their butler, if their room had one, or in person themselves at the spa desk once they arrived. The spa is good sized and we did not have availability issues for setting appointments up for services we booked upon arrival.
Gratuities
Gratuities are expected but not mandatory. While we were there, you were given an envelope in which to place cash if you wanted to tip. They did not have an option to charge to the room a gratuity. You could come back later with the tip or you can bring cash with you. They write the name of your spa or salon person on the envelope.
What age would you recommend?
We took our 3-year-old so she wouldn’t feel left out. She was unable to do the hair as she was scared of the professional equipment. We would recommend the treatment for ages 4 and up. She loved the warm neck wrap and having her nails done. The spa staff actually changed her treatment to “just a nail polish change” since she was scared of doing hair. It was a lesser charge and not something we expected. We were very impressed at their patience with her and their kindness in charging us less for the treatment.
