Let me save you the 10 years of 🌎 training and experience....
Here is my top travel advice in under 5 minutes as a travel advisor of over a decade helping busy people travel smart:
🧳Trying to do too much will always ruin your trip worse than doing too little…especially for those around you.
🧳Always ask what does spending 10-15% more get me? Sometimes it can completely upgrade the experience.
🧳Driving yourself causes so many problems in about 90% of locations outside the US. Use private drivers or efficient transportation.
🧳You need medical travel insurance for international travel. Period. It’s not expensive. Don’t skip it.
🧳Flights are more of an auction and less of a lottery ticket. You are not waiting for a “golden” moment. Know what an average cost of that route is and book when you are comfortable with the price and route.
🧳Where you book your flights or hotels or experiences is where you get them serviced- sometimes that is a benefit, sometimes that’s a disaster.
🧳Travel means unexpected things will happen. Being flexible and seeing that as part of your trip will make everything easier. Expecting everything to “be like home” will make it horrible.
🧳Travel is a skill and some destinations are more beginner friendly than others. Be honest about your skill level and book accordingly.
🧳Something’s popularity, or lack thereof, does not determine if it’s a good idea for your itinerary.
🧳Your most expensive currency is your time off: protect and invest in your vacation memories.

Unpopular opinion- but for a vacation ☀️ (relaxation+🌊), your resort fit to your travel style makes or breaks the trip.
Resorts have different personalities and different features- even in the same destination.
Some are lively.
Some have a ton to do.
Some are huge and spread out.
Some are intimate and zen.
Whether or not you fit that resort will be the most important thing to having you love your trip. More important than the destination.
I’ve told clients: “If I dropped you at the resort and took away any unique landscape features, you likely could not tell me which destination you were in.
But you could tell me whether or not you would have a good vacation there.”
This matters because so many people start with destination. They have a list of places they will or will not go- but it won’t make their vacation great.
Some of the best resort fits may be in a destination you’ve seen before, but would be the BEST trip for you. Some of the destinations you want to see may not have the kinds of resorts that you truly love, and so you won’t have as good a time.
For vacations that are going to be more about relaxation and chill- the resort fit will maximize the trip.
For trips that are more travel-based- meaning you want to explore local areas, eating at local dining offsite, doing activities or sightseeing during the day, hopping between cities and countries, and just generally DOING instead of relaxing...the destination matters more.
So, start with: what kind of a trip do I want to take?
If the answer is “a break” or a “rest” or a “vacation”, look for the BEST resort for you.

-Watch out for time and date changes
-Account for customs and security timing
-Watch for secondary airports that pop up in online searches that may not be near where you actually want to go

Remember…if you are ever short on time or confidence to sort through internet opinion overwhelm for your next trip, I got you!
📍Start with what you want to experience- a destination is not a trip! Why that destination? What about it do you want to remember? How do you imagine a day there going? What things do you really want to say, “I’ve seen that!”?
📍Get real about dates- a lot of travel planning is date-specific. How long can you be gone from home? Do you have flexibility on what day of the week you leave? Do you need to maximize weekends?
📍Think about the budget range- what are you and anyone traveling with you comfortable spending on this trip? Even if you want help developing a trip budget (I got you!), have a conversation before you start planning about how much you can spend keeps you from being disappointed and frustrated later on.
🗺️As a travel professional- this is how I start the planning for every trip. You can have a million reel inspirations saved on your phone but those will not magically materialize into a personalized vacation that actually makes sense or works in the real world. Begin with these questions to be able to actually start making your dream trip a reality.

A: Your bags have to play catch up. The cruise line and the airline will work together to get your bags to the next destination where they can meet the ship.
What to do in the meantime? For our clients who had this happen this week- they could relax knowing that they had trip insurance that covered baggage delay. Everyone in their party had $500 per person to buy the essentials they needed to make it on the ship until their bags arrive.
Because they got our pre-packing tips, they knew that they needed all their important documents, money, medications, and change of clothes in their carry on so they didn't have to panic for the next day or two. Now, they are just getting some souvenir wardrobe items courtesy of travel insurance.
